Dear Teacher Network Subscriber,
World Class: Students becoming global citizens
We are excited to welcome the new school year with the launch of World Class, a free web-based learning and action program for elementary and middle school students. Developed in partnership with TakingITGlobal, the World Class program integrates global education and citizenship learning across the curriculum, helping students think critically about global issues, act on new understandings and reflect on the change in their perspectives and behaviours.
The World Class program offers:
- A private virtual classroom: upload resources, post assignments and share student work using blogs, discussion forums and image galleries
- Free global education resources: access a growing collection of videos, lessons, action tools and study guides, including GEAR (Global Education Activity Resource)
- Staff Room: connect with other World Class teachers to chat and share ideas and resources
- World Class Schools: connect with classes across Canada to share work or collaborate on projects
Join a community of educators using technology to foster global citizenship. Learn more and register your class at OurWorldClass.ca

Power of Play (POP) Video Contest
Around the world play is a powerful tool for building peace and helping children develop in positive ways. Enter your primary or junior class in our Power of Play (POP) Video Contest and create a one-minute video capturing what the right to play means to them. Winning classes get the chance to select and send toys or sports and school equipment to children in a developing country.
Check the World Class website for contest details.
