Happy New Year and welcome back to new learning programs at CONNECT! International Development Week 2012 takes place Feb 5-11. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about international development issues using World Vision resources. The theme of IDW 2012 is Empowering Women and Girls.

Gender and Poverty Live Webinar: Thursday February 9, 12 to 1 p.m. (EDT)

Join Megan Cox, World Vision's Program Manager for Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique and Zimbabwe for a live webinar on gender and development. Megan will answer student questions about the link between poverty and gender in Africa, including the issues of early marriage, male and female social roles and access to education.

Access to education is an important investment in the future of boys and girls around the world. Both genders experience barriers to education in developing countries, but factors impeding access for girls are more prevalent and have far-reaching consequences.

Global Educators in Your Classroom: Jan - March 2012

We're offering free interactive workshops conducted by experienced Global Educators for grades 4 - 8 classes in the GTA and Ottawa areas.
